   An act relating to vehicles.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 1648, as introduced, Jeffries. Vehicles: firefighter's driver's
license.
   Existing law authorizes the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue
a restricted driver's license for the appropriate class of vehicle to
a firefighter for the operation of firefighting equipment.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation regarding testing and licensing for a restricted
firefighter's driver's license.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation regarding testing and licensing for the issuance of a
restricted driver's license for the appropriate class of vehicle to a
firefighter for the operation of firefighting equipment.
