SUMMARY : Establishes the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission
(Commission) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of
Ronald Reagan, as specified. Specifically, this bill :
1)Establishes the nine member Commission as follows:
a) President pro Tempore of the Senate, the Minority Leader
of the Senate, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the
Minority Leader of the Assembly, or his or her respective
designee;
b) One appointee of the Governor; and,
c) Four appointees by the Ronald Reagan Presidential
Foundation, including one individual who served in Ronald
Reagan's Presidential Administration, one individual who
served in Ronald Reagan's Gubernatorial Administration, and
a former Governor.
2)Requires the Commission to create appropriate means to allow
Californians to celebrate Reagan's life by honoring,
promoting, and remembering his achievements for this state and
country.
3)Prohibits the Commission from using public funds and requires
the Commission to be solely supported by private funds.
EXISTING LAW provides for the establishment of various
commissions within state government.

FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown. This bill is keyed non-fiscal.
COMMENTS : According to the author's office, "AB 1911 creates
the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission which will be tasked
with developing appropriate means to honor and promote the 100th
anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth. Born in 1911, Ronald
Reagan is the only person to have served as both the Governor of
California and the President of the United States. Having been
one of the most influential Californians in history, Ronald
Reagan deserves special recognition for his service."
