AB 2252, as introduced, Torrico. Universal preschool.
Existing law requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to
administer all California state preschool programs, including, but
not limited to, part-day and full-day age and developmentally
appropriate programs for 3- and 4-year-old children who meet certain
eligibility requirements.
This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to provide a universal preschool program that would be
available for 3- and 4-year-old children, to be funded through the
imposition of an inheritance tax.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to provide a universal preschool program that would be
available for three- and four-year-old children, to be funded through
the imposition of an inheritance tax.
