BILL NUMBER: AB 2290
  VETOED	DATE: 09/29/2010

To the Members of the California State Assembly:

I am returning Assembly Bill 2290 without my signature.

This bill would require the California Department of Corrections and
Rehabilitation (CDCR), not less than 45 days prior to the release of
specified inmates, or as soon as practicable, to notify local law
enforcement agency of the jurisdiction to which the inmate is to be
released regarding the scheduled release. This measure is
unnecessary because CDCR currently provides this information to local
law enforcement. Moreover, this measure would unnecessarily specify
the use of a particular data system, which could limit the
department's flexibility to make improvements and updates to the
current system. For these reasons, I am unable to sign this bill.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger
