SUMMARY
This bill makes various statutory and technical changes to
reflect the merger of the former Office of Emergency Services
(OES) and the former Office of Homeland Security (OHS) into the
California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) in January 1,
2009.
FISCAL EFFECT
This bill eliminates the statute for 13 different reports that
CalEMA is required to produce and instead requires the
information to be included in CalEMA's annual report. This
reduction in workload may result in minor GF savings.
COMMENTS
1)Purpose . This bill is a Cal EMA-sponsored bill. It consists
of statutory clean-up that changes various statutory
references to Office of Emergency Services and the Office of
Homeland Security to reflect the merger. The bill also
eliminates duplicative reports and committees.
2)Related Legislation . AB 38 (Nava; Chapter 372, Statutes of
2008) merges the Office of Emergency Services and the Office
of Homeland Security to create the California Emergency
Management Agency.
