           SUMMARY  

          This measure designates, as "Robert Lewis Stevenson's Historic  
          Trail to Silverado," a 1.6-mile portion of State Route 29 in  
          Napa County.

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor costs to Caltrans to make and erect appropriate signs;  
          these costs are covered by donations.  (State Highway Account.)

           COMMENTS  

           Purpose  . This measure recognizes the Robert Lewis Stevenson's  
          1875 travelogue The Silverado Squatters, which include a  
          chapter, "Starry Drive" in which the author recounted the night  
          sky as he traveled along what was a toll road leading to the  
          abandoned mining town of Silverado.
