           SENATE VOTE  :   36-0
           
          SUBJECT  :   California Microenterprise Development Month.

           SUMMARY  :   Designates July 2009 and July of every year  
          thereafter as Microenterprise Development Month.  Specifically,  
           this resolution  makes the following legislative findings:  

          1)Microenterprises are the small businesses of fewer than five  
            employees that comprise over 19% of California's employment,  
            providing jobs for 3,305,272 people and account for 77% of all  
            new employment growth in California from 2000 to 2003.

          2)California recognizes the contributions of microentrepreneurs  
            who come from diverse cultures to build the American dream of  
            owning their own business and treasures the social, economic  
            and environmental contributions of its microentrepreneurs.

          3)California communities can stimulate growth and success of  
            entrepreneurship by promoting outreach, advocacy, and  
            education of microenterprise development.
