           SENATE VOTE : 32-0

SUBJECT : The Northern California Golf Association Foundation

SUMMARY : This resolution recognizes and supports the Northern
California Golf Association (NCGA) Foundations contribution to
the underserved youth of California. Specifically, this bill
resolution makes the following legislative findings:

1)The NCGA Foundation has been supporting underserved and
disadvantaged youth through golf since 1989 as the charitable
            arm of the NCGA.

2)More than $2.5 million has been expended in Northern
California on behalf of disadvantaged youth across various
communities, stretching from Fresno to San Luis Obispo to
Sacramento and north to Humboldt County.

3)In 2009 the NCGA Foundation funded scholarships and grants for
youth programs, and subsidized 90,000 experiences on driving
ranges and 60,000 rounds of golf for the young people of
            Northern California.

4)The sport of golf has become a beacon of light, with low-cost
opportunities for tens of thousands of young Californians to
excel both personally and professionally through the NCGA
Foundation efforts of supporting a continuum that extends a
            wholesome, success-oriented life, through scholarships,
            internships, and career opportunities.

5)This resolution recognizes the NCGA Foundation's contribution
to the underserved youth of California and supports its
efforts in teaching life skills and encouraging a productive
and healthy lifestyle through the game of golf.

COMMENTS : According to the author, "For more than 20 years the
NCGA Foundation has been supporting many charitable
organizations throughout California. Today, it's Youth on
Course program teaches golf to kids from low-income families who
wouldn't otherwise have access to the golf course or driving
range. The program also teaches life-skills necessary for
program participants to become contributing and successful
members of society. The NCGA Foundation has become a pathway
for tens of thousands of young Californians to excel personally
and professionally. I am honored to author this resolution that
commemorates the wonderful work of the NCGA Foundation."
