SENATE VOTE : 33-0
SUBJECT : Plasma Protein Therapies Month.
SUMMARY : Designates September 2010 as Plasma Protein Therapies
Month and encourages Californians to observe the month with
appropriate programs and activities. Specifically, this

1)Patients with rare, chronic, genetic diseases and disorders
rely upon access to plasma-derived and recombinant analog
therapies, known collectively as "plasma protein therapies,"
to treat life-threatening conditions, such as hemophilia and
primary immunodeficiency diseases.
2)Individuals afflicted with these rare disorders require access
to the full range of plasma protein therapies to help ensure
the best possible clinical outcomes.
3)Access to comprehensive care has been shown to markedly
improve patient outcomes, including access to options in
pharmacy services and the delivery of home supported services.
4)There are 10 plasma collection centers in California certified
by the International Quality Plasma Program where healthy
