SUBJECT OF BILL
Veterans' points on state service entrance examinations.
PROPOSED LAW
Increase veterans' points on state service examinations for
veterans without prior state service.
EXISTING LAW AND BACKGROUND
The government code allows a certain number of points to be
given to veterans so that all other things being equal the
government does its best to employ those who have already
put everything on the line for society and its' government.
Any veteran who takes a civil service examination gets an
extra 5 points on civil service exams unless the veteran is
disabled in which 10 extra points are given.
Veterans already in state service are awarded 10 points on
a civil service exam and 15 points if disabled.
COMMENT
1. According to the author, we need to do all that we
can to reintegrate returning veterans into civilian
life.
2. This bill is meant to help veterans find
employment.
3. Employment is a major stepping stone to fully
reintegrating returning veterans into society.
4. This bill would give veterans without any state
service the same veterans' points as those in state
service.
