Capitol, the books, papers, and other artifacts relating to the
Grand Army of the Republic, and permits the Adjutant General to
make arrangements for use of the display cabinets in the public
display of the artifacts throughout the state.
FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown
COMMENTS : Since 1990 the California Military Museum has been
located in Old Town Sacramento, serving as the repository for
military artifacts, memorabilia, equipment, documents and other
items relating to the history of the California National Guard.
Several statutes enacted since 1990 have increased the
acquisition rate of items relative to the history of the
California Military. Statutes requesting the submission of an
annual audit report and an annual business plan were the direct
result of legislative intent to increase oversight of the
operation of the California State Military Museum and Resource
Center.
The author notes that the submission of the annual audit reports
and a business plan has become cumbersome and untimely. The
changing of the date would align the business plan submission
date with the budgetary time line governing the California State
Military Museum and Resource Center.
