SUMMARY
This bill requires the annual audit report and business plan
prepared by the Board of Directors of the California State
Military Foundation, which operates the California State
Military Museum and Resource Center, to be submitted by March 15
of each year.
FISCAL EFFECT
Negligible fiscal impact.
COMMENTS
1)Purpose . Since 1990 the California Military Museum has been
located in Old Town Sacramento, serving as the repository for
military artifacts, memorabilia, equipment, documents and
other items relating to the history of the California National
Guard. This bill clarifies that the museum is a repository for
items relating to the military history of California. In
addition, establishing a submission date of October 15 for the
museum's annual audit report and business plan is intended to
align this deadline with the museum's budgetary timeline.
2)Prior Legislation . This bill is almost identical to AB 2508
(Carter) of 2008, which was one of numerous bills summarily
vetoed by the governor without a stated objection.
