           SUMMARY  

          This bill makes technical and nonsubstantive changes to the  
          Public Safety Communications Act of 2002.

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Negligible

           COMMENTS  

           1)Purpose  .  This bill is intended as clean up to the Public  
            Safety Communications Act of 2002.  It primarily makes changes  
            to the language to reflect the merger of the former Office of  
            Emergency Services (OES) and the former Office of Homeland  
            Security (OHS) into the newly created California Emergency  
            Management Agency (CalEMA).  

           2)Public Safety Communications Act of 2002  .  AB 2018 (Nakano;  
            Chapter 1091, Statutes of 2002) established the Public Safety  
            Communications Act of 2002 for the purpose of developing and  
            implementing a statewide integrated public safety  
            communication system. The act also empowers the existing  
            Public Safety Radio Strategic Planning Committee with the  
            primary responsibility of establishing an integrated public  
            safety communications system.
