   An act relating to liability insurance.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1228, as introduced, Calderon. Liability insurance.
   Existing law provides that insurance is a contract whereby one
undertakes to indemnify another against loss, damage, or liability
arising from a contingent or unknown event.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to later
amend this bill to govern the use of insurance contracts in order to
provide for equitable resolution of claims for fraud, willful injury,
and any other violation of law.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to later amend this
bill to govern the use of insurance contracts in order to provide
for equitable resolution of claims for fraud, willful injury, and any
other violation of law.
