for determining the policies for operations of the Department
of Veterans Affairs, has seven members. Current law requires
that two members of the board have substantial training or
professional expertise in mortgage lending and real estate
finance and in geriatrics, gerontology, or long-term care,
respectively. A third member of the board is required to have
an accounting or auditing background. This committee bill
requires a fourth member of the board to have expertise in
health care administration.
2)Related Legislation . AB 2784 (Veterans Affairs), pending in
Senate Veterans Affairs, increases the board to nine members
and requires that two members shall have served in the
conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
