           SUMMARY  :  Proclaims the month of June to be June Dairy Month in 
          California in honor of the work of dairy producers in 
          California; and, hereby, encourages all Californians to continue 
          to support the American dairy industry by including dairy 
          products as part of a healthy diet.   Specifically,  this 
          resolution  makes the following legislative findings: 

          1)Only 30%  of Americans meet their recommended intake of 
            calcium; and, dairy foods provide nearly 75% of the calcium 
            naturally available in the food supply, as well as potassium, 
            magnesium, and vitamin A.

          2)Dairy foods play a beneficial role in maintaining a healthy 
            weight; and, when consumed as part of a healthy diet, dairy 
            foods may help to reduce osteoporosis, hypertension, obesity, 
            colon cancer, and metabolic syndrome - conditions that can 
            lead to heart disease and type II diabetes.

          3)It is estimated that the dairy industry accounts for less than 
            2% of the total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, an amount the 
            industry continues working to reduce.

          4)The National "June Dairy Month" is a great opportunity for 
            Americans to honor dairy farmers and to recognize the 
            importance of dairy products to a healthy diet for many 
            Americans.
