ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON RULES
Nancy Skinner, Chair
ACR 80 (Gaines and Valadao) - As Introduced: August 15, 2011
SUBJECT : Yellow Ribbon Week.
SUMMARY : Proclaims the week of September 5 through September
11, 2011, Yellow Ribbon Week, in support of military families
and their loved ones who are defending our country and fighting
for the preservation of freedom for all; and, provides an
opportunity for Californians to extend sincere appreciation for
the sacrifices military families and our troops are making and
to commemorate our troops and their families with ceremonial
activities. Specifically, this resolution makes the following
legislative findings:
1)The Yellow Ribbon America Campaign was founded in February
2003, as a nonpartisan, grassroots effort to unite all
Americans in directly helping our nation's military members
and their families during wartime; and, local businesses,
residents, churches, and community groups focus their
resources on helping military members and their families in
their communities.
2)Yellow Ribbon America is a proud National Community Outreach
Partner for the federal Defense Department's "America Supports
You" and Military Severely Injured Center's "Heroes to
Hometowns" programs.
3)Because of the importance of demonstrating support for
military families and troops during this very difficult time,
the week of September 5 through September 11, 2011, has been
designated to publicly show support for these individuals.
4)Californians are proud of our troops and their families and
appreciate the great sacrifice they are making to assure
freedom for all; and, ceremonial activities have been planned
to commemorate Yellow Ribbon Week in support of military
families and our troops.
