SUBJECT : Armed Forces Day

DIGEST : This resolution recognizes May 19, 2012 as Armed
Forces Day and honors the members of the Armed Forces and
their families for their services and sacrifices made to
our country.
ANALYSIS : This resolution makes the following
legislative findings:
1.Armed Forces Day was created in 1949 when the United
States Department of Defense consolidated the military
services. This day will be celebrated on the third
Saturday in May and will honor the men and women who are
serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and
Coast Guard, including National Guard and Reserves.
2.Members of the Armed Forces have been killed and injured
while performing the tremendous service to our country of
bringing peace and stability in the name of democracy.

3.All Americans express their appreciation and gratitude
for members of the Armed Forces at home and abroad for
their service and sacrifice to our great nation. The
volunteer citizens and organizations that assist our
wounded warriors are also commended for their
contribution to the Armed Forces and the United States.
