   An act relating to ethanol.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 523, as introduced, Valadao. Ethanol: subsidies.
   Existing law requires the State Energy Resources Conservation and
Development Commission, in partnership with the State Air Resources
Board, and in consultation with the State Water Resources Control
Board, the Department of Food and Agriculture, and other relevant
state agencies, to develop and adopt a state plan to increase the use
of alternative transportation fuels, including ethanol.
   This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to eliminate all subsidies in California for ethanol.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to eliminate all subsidies in California for ethanol.
