ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON BUSINESS, PROFESSIONS AND CONSUMER
PROTECTION
Mary Hayashi, Chair
AB 682 (Hayashi) - As Introduced: February 17, 2011
SUBJECT : State property: inventory.
SUMMARY : Requires the Department of General Services (DGS) to
update, by January 1 of each year, a complete and accurate
inventory of all real property held by the state.
EXISTING LAW :
1)Requires DGS to maintain a complete and accurate statewide
inventory of all real property held by the state and
categorize that inventory by agency and geographical location.
2)Requires each state agency to furnish DGS, in the format
specified by DGS, a record of each parcel of real property
that it possesses. Each agency shall update its real property
holdings, reflecting any changes, by July 1 of each year.
3)Requires the inventory maintained by DGS to include all the
information furnished by agencies and the University of
California and to update that inventory annually.
FISCAL EFFECT : Unknown. This bill is keyed non-fiscal.
COMMENTS : Current law does not specify a completion date for
the annual DGS inventory update of real property held by the
state. However, current law does specify a date, July 1 of each
year, for state agencies to update the information they provide
to DGS for the real property inventory. This bill provides
continuity to the code by specifying an annual completion date
of January 1 for the DGS inventory of real property to be
updated.
Previous Legislation . AB 301 (Committee on Business and
Professions) of 2005, was a similar bill that would have
required DGS to update by January 1 of each year, an inventory
of state real property. This bill was held in the Senate
