SUMMARY : Establishes the State Capitol Sustainability Task
Force (Task Force) to develop and implement a State Capitol
Sustainability Initiative (Initiative).
The Senate amendments :
1)Increase the types of green building ratings that the Task
Force must coordinate with state agencies and the private
sector to seek, to include other green building ratings, in
addition to a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or
ENERGY STAR.
2)Require the Department of General Services (DGS), instead of
the Task Force, to seek grant funding and other opportunities,
as specified.
3)Sunset the provisions of this bill on January 1, 2014.
EXISTING LAW :
1)Authorizes DGS to repair and alter buildings within the
Capitol area.
2)Establishes the Historic State Capitol Commission (Commission)
and requires the Commission to prepare and amend a
comprehensive master plan for the restoration, preservation,
and maintenance of the historic State Capitol.
AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY , this bill was substantially similar
to the version approved by the Senate.
