SUBJECT OF BILL
Reporting requirements for the California Department of
Veterans Affairs (CDVA) annual report
PROPOSED LAW
1. Add to CDVA's annual report a requirement to report the
percentage of California veterans receiving benefits and
how California ranks with other states.
2. Corrects punctuation errors in this section of code.
EXISTING LAW AND BACKGROUND
1. Requires an annual report from CDVA (MVC section 974)
with the following information
(1) The number of monthly federal benefit payments obtained
on behalf of veterans.
(2) The total value of those monthly benefit payments.
(3) The average value of those monthly benefit payments.
(4) The number of one-time benefit payments obtained,
including both single-payment benefits and retroactive
payments.
(5) The total value of one-time benefit payments obtained.
(6) The average value of these one-time benefit payments
obtained.
This report is required to show the statistics of each
county as well as the statewide aggregate total.
COMMENT
1. This bill does not create a new report, but only adds
one more statistic to an already existing report as well as
cleaning up a punctuation error.
2. This bill is recommended for consent.
