SUMMARY : Contains necessary statutory and technical changes to
implement the Budget Act of 2012 related to higher education.
The Senate amendments delete the Assembly version of this bill,
and instead:
1)Appropriate $37.6 million to the University of California (UC)
for the purposes of addressing a portion of the UC's employer
pension contribution costs for the University of California
Retirement Plan (UCRP). This amount is intended only to help
address UC's employer pension cost increases that are
attributable to state General Fund and tuition-funded
employees.
2)Appropriate $365,000 to the Hastings College of the Law for
the purposes of addressing a portion of the Hastings' employer
pension contribution costs for the UCRP. This amount is
intended only to help address Hastings' employer pension cost
increases that are attributable to state General Fund and
tuition-funded employees.
3)Appropriate $125 million for fiscal year 2013-14 to UC. This
funding is contingent on: a) the passage of the Schools and
Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012; and, b) UC
maintaining its 2011-12 mandatory system wide tuition fee
levels through the 2012-13 academic year.
4)Appropriate $125 million for fiscal year 2013-14 to the

California State University (CSU). This funding is contingent
on: a) the passage of the Schools and Local Public Safety
Protection Act of 2012; and, b) CSU maintaining the 2011-12
mandatory system wide tuition fee levels through the 2012-13
academic year.
5)Add an appropriation allowing this bill to take effect
immediately upon enactment.
AS PASSED BY THE ASSEMBLY , this bill expressed the intent of the
Legislature to enact statutory changes relating to the Budget
Act of 2012.
