BILL TEXT
INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Fong
FEBRUARY 22, 2012
An act to amend Section 9575 of the Health and Safety Code,
relating to mausoleums and columbariums.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 1870, as introduced, Fong. Mausoleums and columbariums:
building permits.
Existing law, the Mausoleum and Columbarium Law, establishes
minimum requirements for the construction of mausoleums and
columbariums, as defined, and prohibits the construction or
alteration of a mausoleum or columbarium without a building permit
from the appropriate local department. Existing law requires this
permit application to be accompanied by specified documentation,
including the written approval of the local cemetery authority of the
plans and specifications for the work to be performed.
Under existing law, if the person to whom a permit or approval has
been issued refuses or neglects to comply with applicable law, or
makes a false statement or misrepresentation, as specified, the
relevant department is required to revoke or cancel the permit or
approval it has previously issued.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the law
relating to mausoleum and columbarium building permits.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
