SUMMARY
This bill makes any peace officer trainee who cheats, or
knowingly conceals efforts by others to cheat, on a basic course
exam mandated by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and
Training (POST) liable for a civil fine up to $1,000 per
occurrence.
FISCAL EFFECT
Negligible.
COMMENTS
1)Rationale . The author and sponsor, POST, wish to ensure the
integrity of POST testing.
2)Recent amendments reduce the penalty from $5,000, and delete
reimbursement of up to $25,000 for restructuring tests and a
lifetime ban on serving as a peace officer.
