   An act to amend Section 677 of the Streets and Highways Code,
relating to state highways.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 2510, as introduced, Galgiani. State highways: encroachments.
   Existing law provides that the Department of Transportation shall
have full possession and control of the state highway system and
associated property. Existing law provides for the department to
issue permits relative to encroachments on state highway property,
and defines encroachment for these purposes. Existing law provides
that the department may require an applicant for an encroachment
permit to file a bond with the department.
   This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 677 of the Streets and Highways Code is amended
to read:
   677.  Before granting a permit under any provision of this
chapter, the department may require the applicant to file with the
department a satisfactory bond payable to the people of the State of
California in  such   an  amount 
as   that  the department deems sufficient,
conditioned on the proper compliance by the permittee with the
provisions of this article.
