           DIGEST  :    This bill corrects incorrect Public Utilities 
          Code references to code sections that were moved or 
          repealed as a result of other enacted statutes.  This bill 
          renumbers several sections of the Public Utilities Code and 
          revises grammar and cross-references to other code 
          sections. 
          
           ANALYSIS  :    

          Existing law: 

          1. Mandates that the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has 
             regulatory authority over public utilities, including

             electrical corporations, as defined. 

          2. Requires the PUC to undertake certain steps in 
             implementing the California Solar Initiative. 

          3. Requires a local publicly owned electric utility that 
             sells electricity at retail to adopt, implement, and 
             finance a solar initiative program for the purpose of 
             investing in, and encouraging the increased installation 
             of, residential and commercial solar energy systems. 

           Comments
           
          According to the author's office, this is a code 
          maintenance bill in which the author intends to revise, 
          renumber and repeal sections of the Public Utilities Code 
          which no longer have utility.
