Assembly Amendments add coauthors.
ANALYSIS : By naming a portion of State Highway Route
(SR) 1 for Vietnam veterans, this resolution seeks to
express the gratitude and appreciation of the residents of
Santa Barbara County for the sacrifices that all service
members, especially those from local communities, made for
their country in Vietnam. This resolution also seeks to
create a veterans recognition corridor that hopefully will
link the various local veterans museums and memorials and
become an ongoing memorial for veterans and their families.
Guadalupe's contributions to the Vietnam War . According to
the author's office, 220 young men and women from the City
of Guadalupe served their country in the Vietnam War, three
of whom gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.
This resolution designates the portion of SR 1 in the City
of Guadalupe as the "Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway."
This resolution further requests the Department of
Transportation to erect appropriate signs only upon
receiving donations from non-state sources sufficient to
cover the cost.
