           SENATE VOTE  :   38-0
           
          SUBJECT  :   Senior Volunteer Month.

           SUMMARY  :   Declares May 2011 to be "Senior Volunteer Month" to 
          honor the contributions of California's senior volunteers.  
          Specifically,  this resolution  makes the following legislative 
          findings:  

          1)A 1999 national survey showed senior citizens' volunteer work 
            hours totaled approximately 5.5 billion hours per year for an 
            estimated $71.2 billion dollar value; and, senior volunteers 
            serve persons of all ages in schools, hospitals, churches, and 
            other nonprofit organizations. 

          2)Many local governments proclaim May as Older Americans Month; 
            and, Americans observe Older Americans Month by celebrating 
            the accomplishments and achievements of older Americans.
