Assembly Amendments make technical changes and clarify the

the provisions pertaining to the John Burton Highway.
ANALYSIS : This resolution is intended to honor Randy
Sanchez, a Department of Transportation (Caltrans) project
manager in the District 11 office, which includes San Diego
and Imperial counties, and Senator John Burton who served
at various times in the California State Assembly, United
States Congress, and California State Senate, between 1965
and 2004.
Summary Randy Sanchez's achievements . Randy Sanchez, a
native of New Jersey, worked for several years for Caltrans
and was project manager. In that capacity, he worked on
several projects related to cross border access on Otay
Mesa. On September 21, 2004, a motorist ran a red light,
and struck and killed Mr. Sanchez while he was riding his
motorcycle to work. Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife
Annette and two children, Ryan and Nicole.
Summary of John Burton's achievements . John Burton served
at various times in the California State Assembly, U.S.
Congress, and California State Senate, between 1965 and
2004. From 1998 through 2004, he was the President pro

separate occasions as chair of the California Democratic
Party. He founded and chairs the John Burton Foundation
for Children Without Homes.

crosses I-905 as the "Randy Sanchez Memorial Bridge," and
