DIGEST : This bill corrects a chaptering-out error that
occurred when two bills amended the same code section.
ANALYSIS : Existing law requires the clerk of the court
to collect a fee from a person ordered or permitted by the
court to attend a traffic violator school and authorizes
the clerk to accept a payment of at least 10% of a
specified amount upon filing a written agreement by the
defendant to pay the remainder of the fee according to an
installment payment schedule of no more than 90 days as
agreed upon with the court.
This bill corrects a chaptering-out error that occurred
when two bills amended the same code section and one bill,

720, Statutes of 2010, was chaptered after the other, AB
2499 (Portantino), Chapter 599, Statutes of 2010. Because
the two measures were not double-joined, only the last
enacted bill went into effect, SB 857, leaving out the
changes made to the same code section by AB 2499.
