           SUMMARY  

          This bill requires the California Department of Veterans Affairs 
          to include in its strategic plan:

          1)A review of the goals and objectives relating to homeless 
            veterans.

          2)A determination of the number of homeless veterans in this 
            state and the number of those who received benefits from state 
            or federal programs.

           FISCAL  

          Minor and absorbable costs to the CDVA, as the department 
          currently considers special needs populations in its strategic 
          plan, including homeless veterans. 

           COMMENTS

          Related Legislation  . SB 1198 (Calderon), also before the 
          committee today, requires CDVA to publicize information related 
          to benefits for homeless veterans.
