SUMMARY
This bill extends to spouses of active military personnel
existing law that holds a person's driver's license as valid as
long as the person is in active military services and remains
out of the state, effective through the 30th day following the
person's honorable discharge from military service.
FISCAL EFFECT
Negligible state costs.
COMMENTS
Rationale . The author contends it appropriate, when practical,
to extend to spouses the benefits provided to military personnel
who serve out of the state or country. The author further
contends relieving spouses of active-duty military members
serving out of state of the need to renew their driver's
licenses is a small and practical, yet nonetheless significant
way to make life easier for member of the military and their
families.
