SB 1395 (Rubio) - As Amended: May 15, 2012
Policy Committee: Business and
Professions Vote: 9 - 0
Urgency: No State Mandated Local Program:
No Reimbursable:
SUMMARY
This bill renames the "Bureau of State Audits" (BSA) the
"California State Auditor's Office," and the "State Auditor"
(SA) the "California State Auditor."
FISCAL EFFECT
Costs associated with this legislation would be minor and
absorbable within existing BSA resources.
COMMENTS
Purpose . This bills changes the name of BSA to the "California
State Auditor's Office." Current statutes refer to both the SA
and the BSA. The state auditor believes that this is confusing
and makes it appear as if there are two separate state entities
with auditor responsibilities. The proposed change, the author
and state auditor believe, would clarify that there is one
single state entity responsible for audits. The author is
carrying this bill at the request of BSA.
