SUBJECT : California Craft Brewery Month

DIGEST : This resolution proclaims the month of April 2014 as
California Craft Brewery Month.
ANALYSIS : This resolution makes the following legislative
findings:
1.In 1982, Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 3610 (Bates, Chapter
1019) to amend the state's tied-house laws to remove the
restriction on on-premises sales of craft beer; and following
this change in the law, California became home to three of the
first five brewpubs in America.
2.California is now known and recognized internationally for the
quality of its craft breweries; and California now has more
breweries than any other state in the country, including more
than 440 small, independently owned craft breweries.
3.Brewery tourism is increasingly popular and contributes to the
economic impact of the state's tourism industry; and in 2012,

the California craft brewery industry supported more than
45,000 jobs, and had an annual impact of $4.7 billion on the
state's economy.
This resolution proclaims the month of April 2014 as California
Craft Brewery Month.

ARGUMENTS IN SUPPORT : The California Craft Brewers
Association writes, "The passage of ACR 116 will be a welcome
complement to our craft brewery members and the industry. We
are very proud of the growth of our industry and its ability to
provide jobs and support for our local communities."
