SUMMARY : Designates a specific portion of State Route (SR) 99
in Sutter County as the "California Small Business Owners'
Highway."
The Senate amendments clarify the highway designation as
"California Small Business Owners' Highway".
EXISTING LAW assigns Caltrans the responsibility of operating
and maintaining state highways. This includes the installation
and maintenance of highway signs.
FISCAL EFFECT : According to the Senate Appropriations
Committee, pursuant to Senate Rule 28.8, negligible state costs.
COMMENTS : As California continues to move forward after
experiencing a severe economic recession, the significant number
of small businesses within the state will play a critical role
in the state's economic recovery. California's small businesses
provide a variety of imperative services, employ a significant
number of the state's population, and are the cornerstone in
many communities. This bill designating a specific portion of
SR 99 in acknowledgment of California's small business owners
will highlight the significant role these employers play in the
state's economy and local communities.
