SUMMARY
This bill makes various technical and conforming changes to the
Teachers' Retirement Law (TRL) which governs administration of
the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS).
1)Revises and updates references to sections of the TRL that
conflict with federal law in their treatment of registered
domestic partners.
2)Ensures equal treatment for Cash Balance (CB) Benefit Program
participants receiving a disability annuity who return to
work, regardless of age.
3)Makes a host of other technical and clarifying changes to TRL
and the administration of the retirement plan.
FISCAL EFFECT
Negligible fiscal impact on the CalSTRS retirement program and
possible minor administrative cost savings to CalSTRS.
COMMENTS
1)Purpose . The bill's sponsor, CalSTRS, states this bill will
make various technical and conforming amendments necessary for
continued effective administration of CalSTRS.
2)There is no registered opposition to this bill.
