SUMMARY
This bill requires the State Public Works Board (PWB) to
annually notify the Legislature of any payment agreement or
interest payment resulting from a property acquisition.
FISCAL EFFECT
Negligible fiscal impact. The Department of Finance provides
staff support to the PWB.
COMMENTS
Purpose . The state's Property Acquisition Law requires all real
property acquired by any state agency be acquired by the PWB,
which consists of the Directors of Finance, General Services and
Transportation. Current law allows the PWB to enter into
agreements, including payment and interest agreements, with the
owner of the property to be acquired. This committee bill seeks
to increase legislative oversight and PWB transparency by
requiring the board to annually notify the Legislature of all
payment agreements or interest paymenst resulting from property
acquisitions.
