AB 2308, as amended, Stone. Prisoners: identification cards.
Existing law authorizes the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue an identification card to a person attesting to the true full name, correct age, and other identifying data as certified by the applicant for the identification card.
This bill would require the Department of Correctionsbegin insert and the Department of Motor Vehiclesend insert to ensure that allbegin insert eligibleend insert inmates released from state prisons have valid identification cards.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 3007.05 is added to the Penal Code, to

5 inmates released from state prisons have valid identification cards,
6issued pursuant to Article 5 (commencing with Section 13000) of
7Chapter 1 of Division 6 of the Vehicle Code.
P2 1(b) It is the intent of
the Legislature that the costs related to
2implementing this section be funded from the Recidivism Reduction
3Fund established by Section 1233.9.
