An act to amend Section 137 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to health.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 2340, as introduced, Garcia. Women’s health.

Existing law requires the State Department of Public Health to develop a coordinated strategy for addressing the health-related needs of women, including the implementation of goals and objectives for women’s health.

This bill would specify that the goals and objectives established for this strategy are for maintaining and improving women’s health.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 137 of the Health and Safety Code is
2amended to read:

137.  

(a) The State Department of Public Health shall develop
4a coordinated state strategy for addressing the health-related needs
5of women, including implementation of goals and objectives for
6begin insert maintaining and improvingend insert women’s health.

P2    1(b) The approved programmatic costs associated with this
2strategy shall be the responsibility of the State Department of
3Public Health unless otherwise provided by law.
