AB 2493, as introduced, Bloom. Communicable disease prevention and control
Existing law establishes the State Department of Public Health and sets forth its powers and duties, including, but not limited to, the licensing and regulation of health facilities, and the prevention and control of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 120110 of the Health and Safety Code
2 is amended to read:
As used in the Communicable Disease Prevention and
4Control Actbegin delete (Section 27)end deletebegin insert (Section 27),end insert a person has “active
5tuberculosis disease” when either one of the following occur:
6(a) A smear or culture taken from any source in the person’s
7body has tested positive for tuberculosisbegin insert,end insert and the person has not
P2 1completed the appropriate prescribed course of medication for
2active tuberculosis disease.
3(b) There is radiographic, current clinical, or laboratory evidence
4sufficient to support a medical diagnosis of tuberculosis for which
5treatment is indicated.
