An act to add Section 101.14 to the Streets and Highways Code, relating to highways.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 2498, as amended, Achadjian. Highway signs: veterans’ memorials and monuments.

Existing law provides that the Department of Transportation is in full possession and control of the state highway system. Existing law provides for placement of signs on state highways, as specified.

This bill would require the department tobegin delete erect, on the state highway system,end deletebegin insert affix, on National Purple Heart Trail memorial signs existing as of January 1, 2015,end insert directional signs to each veterans’ memorial orbegin delete monument,end deletebegin insert monument located within three miles of State Highway 101,end insert upon receiving funds from nonstate sources sufficient to cover the cost.begin insert The bill would prohibit the department from affixing more than one directional sign on a National Purple Heart Trail memorial sign located on State Highway 101.end insert
