Under existing law, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has regulatory authority over public utilities, including electrical corporations. Decisions of the PUC are adopted in the California Solar Initiative, a program providing the ratepayer funded incentives for eligible solar energy systems. Existing law also authorizes the PUC to, among other things, conduct annual random audits of solar energy systems to evaluate their performance.
This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the latter provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 25783 of the Public Resources Code is
2amended to read:
The commission shall do all the following:
4(a) Publish educational materials designed to demonstrate how
5builders may incorporate solar energy systems during construction
6as well as energy efficiency measures that best complement solar
7energy systems.
P2 1(b) Develop and publish the estimated annual electrical
2generation and savings for solar energy systems. The estimates
3shall vary by climate zone, type of system, size, life cycle costs,
4electricity prices, and other factors the commission determines to
5be relevant to a consumer when making a purchasing decision.
6(c) Provide assistance to builders and contractors. The
assistance
7may include technical workshops, training, educational materials,
8and related research.
