DIGEST : This resolution urges the Congress of the United
States to help fund water storage projects in California.

ANALYSIS : This resolution makes the following legislative
          findings:

1.In 1935, the federal government authorized $12 million in the
Rivers and Harbors Act for the construction of the Shasta Dam
in Shasta County, California. This authorization was followed
by another $20 million in federal funds under the Emergency
Relief Appropriation Act of 1935. One year later, in 1936,
Congress appropriated another $6.9 million for the Shasta Dam
project. The San Luis Reservoir, a joint use facility in
Merced County, California, was funded with a 45% match in
            federal funding.

2.Today, there are many proposed water storage projects that
have been adequately studied and are ready for construction.
The Temperance Flat Dam in Madera County and Fresno County,
California, the Sites Reservoir in Glenn County and Colusa
County, California, expansion of the San Luis Reservoir, and
raising of the Shasta Dam are four examples of projects that
                                                                CONTINUED
