SUBJECT : Senate Rule 12: standing committees

DIGEST : This resolution revises Senate Rule 12 relative to
standing committees by changing the numerical membership of
various standing committees.
ANALYSIS : Senate Rule 12 provides for the numerical
membership and the subject matters of each of the Senate
standing committees. The current numerical membership pursuant
to Senate Rule 12 of the standing committees is as follows:
Agriculture - 7 members;
Appropriations - 9 members;
Banking and Financial Institutions - 7 members;
Budget and Fiscal Review - 16 members;
Business, Professions and Economic Development - 9 members;
Education - 11 members;
Election and Constitutional Amendments - 5 members;
Energy, Utilities and Communications - 11 members;
Environmental Quality - 7 members;
Governance and Finance - 9 members;

Governmental Organization - 13 members;
Health - 9 members;
Human Services - 7 members;
Insurance - 8 members;
Judiciary - 5 members;
Labor and Industrial Relations - 7 members;
Natural Resources and Water - 9 members;

Public Safety - 7 members;
Rules - 5 members;
Transportation and Housing - 9 members; and
Veterans Affairs - 7 members.
This resolution changes the numerical membership of the
following standing committees to reflect the current membership
done procedurally by the Senate Rules Committee:
Agriculture - decreases from 7 members to 5;
Appropriations - decreases from 9 members to 7;
Banking and Financial Institutions - increases from 7 members
to 9;
Business, Professions and Economic Development - increases
from 9 members to 10;
Education - decreases from 11 members to 9;
Environmental Quality - increases from 7 members to 9;
Governance and Finance - decreases from 9 members to 7;
Governmental Organization - decreases from 13 members to 11;
Human Services - decreases from 7 members to 6;
Insurance - increases from 8 members to 10;
Judiciary - increases from 5 members to 7;
Labor and Industrial Relations - decreases from 7 members to
5; and
Transportation and Housing - increases from 9 members to 11.
