           SUMMARY  

          This measure designates, as the "Sergeant Gilbert Cortez and K-9  
          Mattie Memorial Highway," the portion of State Route 15 from  
          Second Street in the City of Norco to Limonite Avenue in the  
          City of Eastvale (Riverside County).

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor State Highway Account costs to Caltrans to make and erect  
          appropriate signs; these costs are fully covered by donations.

           COMMENTS  

           Purpose . This measure honors Sergeant Cortez, a 19-year veteran  
          of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation,  
          who last served in the Southern Regional K-9 Unit. Sergeant  
          Cortez and K-9 Mattie were killed in an automobile accident in  
          San Diego County on March 25, 2013.
