Relative to Constitution Week

WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule by law; and

WHEREAS, September 17, 2014, marks the 227th anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and

WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations that will commemorate it; and

WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America designating September 17 through 23, inclusive, as Constitution Week; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, That the Senate commemorates the 227th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 2014, and recognizes the sacrifices made by the people who made the signing possible.

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
