ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON RULES
Richard S. Gordon, Chair
SCR 127 (Huff) - As Introduced: June 4, 2014
SENATE VOTE : 35-0
SUBJECT : California Manufacturing Week.
SUMMARY : Declares the week of June 16, 2014, through June 22,
2014, as California Manufacturing Week. Specifically, this
resolution makes the following legislative findings:
1.California has the nation's largest industrial economy and
leads the nation in aerospace, technology, biotechnology, and
food processing employment. Over 1.2 million citizens are
employed by California manufacturers in high-wage,
middle-class jobs and provide benefits to other sectors of the
economy.
2.With firms increasingly choosing to relocate or shift
production from overseas to more favorable locations in the
U.S., California leaders are committed to making sure
California can compete to capture its fair share of this new
manufacturing job growth and investment in the U.S.
Manufacturers, beginning in 2014, will enjoy a California
state sales tax exemption for purchases of manufacturing
equipment to encourage more investments in the state.
3.Attracting new manufacturing investments to maintain existing
job creation and support new job creation is vital for the
long-term health of California's economy.
