SB 1096, as introduced, Jackson. California Coastal Commission: appointments.
The California Coastal Act of 1976 establishes the California Coastal Commission, and prescribes the membership and functions and duties of the commission. The act provides that the appointment, as a public member, to the commission of any person who is not a locally elected official is not precluded by the act or any other law, including any doctrine of common law.
This bill would repeal that provision.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.
The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 30310.5 of the Public Resources Code
2 is repealed.
No provision of this division or any other law,
4including any doctrine of common law, shall preclude or prevent
5the appointment, as a public member, to the commission of any
6person who is not a locally elected official.
