An act relating to health care coverage.

SB 1241, as introduced, Leno. Health care coverage: marketplace transparency.

Existing law, the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975, provides for the licensure and regulation of health care service plans by the Department of Managed Health Care. Existing law provides for the regulation of health insurers by the Department of Insurance. Existing law requires a plan or insurer to provide certain disclosures of the benefits, services, and terms of a contract or policy.

This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to increase transparency in the health care service plan contract and health insurance policy marketplace.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
